“Putting people at the centre”

“In our world, how many children, elderly people, women and men are invisible because they are hidden in the shadow of indifference! This prevents us from seeing other people, from hearing their calls and perceiving their suffering. The throw-away culture – so much in the news today – is an anonymous culture, with no ties or faces. It takes care of only a few, excluding many others”. These were the words spoken by Pope Francis on 27 January 2018 during an Audience with members of the Italian Red Cross.

“Confirming the principle of humanity means promoting a mentality rooted in the value of every human being, and a practice that puts caring for people at the centre of social life, not financial interests. No, not money in the centre: people!”.

“This is the celebration. This is water turned into wine”
