"We are all called to comfort our brothers"

"Today we need people who are witnesses of the mercy and tenderness of the Lord, who shakes the resigned, revives the disheartened, and kindles the fire of hope. He lights the fire of hope! Not us. So many situations require our comforting testimony. Be joyful, comfort people.

I think of those who are oppressed by suffering, injustice and abuse; to those who are slaves of money, of power, of success, of worldliness. Unfortunate! They have false consolations, not the true consolation of the Lord! We are all called to console our brothers, bearing witness that only God can eliminate the causes of existential and spiritual dramas. He can do it! He is powerful! ".

Pope Francis said this during the Angelus in St. Peter's Square on December 7, 2014.
